The power of change
In business, as in life, one thing has always guided me – change. I’m not someone who enjoys standing still. I learn, adapt, evolve. And the more I change, the more I realize – my greatest strength lies in that very transformation. My path as a Fractional CHRO didn’t start with a clear plan. Honestly, many people still don’t quite understand what I do. "Are you in HR?" – Yes. "Are you a consultant?" – That too. "So, you run an agency?" – Not exactly. Every company I work with gets something different. Every Fractional CHRO agency operates differently. Just as no two HR roles are the same, no two Fractional CHROs are the same either.
When I step into a company, my first task is to scan. Not literally, but close. I analyze how things function, the company culture, the strength of processes, where resources are leaking, where people leave and where they stagnate. Then I move on to education – what training exists, what’s missing and what needs improvement. If a program already exists, I review it. If it doesn’t – I build it.
Then comes crisis HR – managing unexpected situations that could threaten business stability or employee well-being. This includes crisis communication, restructuring during difficult times, adjusting operational processes and providing employee support in challenging circumstances.
Workplace harassment prevention, policies, crisis structures, evaluations, rewards, disincentives. Employee development. Job optimization. I observe how the system breathes and where it can improve.
In smaller companies, I can manage all of this personally. In larger organizations—100+ employees—I rely on in-house HR professionals to handle the operational tasks, allowing me to focus on strategy. I’m always involved, but depending on the project, my legal expert and recruiter rotate in when needed.
How do I work with clients? Intensely. I usually see them once a week and spend the entire day in their company. At a minimum, twice a month. Enough to understand the team, the processes and the dynamics. Enough to know where to cut and change, but also where to support, develop and grow.
And one thing I’ve learned – I don’t fit everywhere. Just as not everyone is suited for every company, not every Fractional CHRO agency is a fit for every organization. It all depends on culture, vision and ways of working. That’s what makes the difference.
Why do I do this? Because I know that change is powerful. Because I’ve seen where I thrive – stepping in, refreshing, building, but also staying where growth happens. Because I am at my best when I’m learning, adapting and creating. Because I see systems evolve – and people within them grow.
If you ask me what a Fractional CHRO is, my answer is simple: someone who knows where to cut, what to fix, and how the system breathes. And if you’re in the middle of a transformation – then you already know why you need someone like me.
